AKS Recording Koi Bole Ram Ram
At Galaxy Smith Studios in Brooklyn, we recorded another track for a new AKS album – Koi Bole Ram Ram. We had everyone playing at the same time, just as we would in a live kirtan. This can be complicated as it means that one mistake means starting all over again. Ananta and Gaura got the giggles, and with seven musicians and one tired baby waiting outside the studio for Acyuta, it got a little intense. We love it though – hopefully we’ll be able to share it with you soon.
The song combines a traditional Sikh bhajan, written by Guru Nanak, with the sacred names of Radha and Govinda. The song has become one of our favourites, with its message of the universal power of many different names of God. In Shri Chaitanya’s eight verse poem about kirtan, he also says that there are millions of names for the Divine, each invested with the same power. For us, ‘Krishna’ and ‘Govinda’ are particularly sweet, so we added them into this song.
